Eugene I think both plugins from SEAO and Hire-Experts actually replace the standard feed with their own improved feed versions. Please keep that in mind when evaluating both options.

    Plugin Recommendations
Anybody have any plugin recommendations for status update privacy options.  I see there are at least two in the SE marketplace one from SEAO and another from Hire Experts

SE Cloud - How to gamify ?
I'm not sure how to gamify members. I didn't see a document on suggestions. It would be nice to provide "awards" for members posting and commenting at a certain level.

Is this possible and I'm missing something? I see there are points awarded -- but what can we do with the points?

    Subscription / payment enhancements
I'd like a few enhancements to subscriptions and payments.

    Member-visible subscription payment expiration.

Ability to give someone a subscription for a period of time.  I have people that pay me by check, and I have to go in and manually edit the database.  Or, alternatively, the ability to have a "I will pay by check" and have a 7-14 day account expiration on that.  Anything to make the flow of subscription payments easier to manage.

SE Cloud - Two Feature Suggestions
As work starts up again on SE Cloud, please consider the following suggestions (no particular order):

    1. Adding the ability to use drop-down menus.
    2. The ability to add photos (thumbnails) during a creation/edit of a topic.
    3. Admin can add featured marking on the front side of the site
    4. iPad Pro friendly backend (Posts get cut off)
    5. Ability to choose multiple categories to a post

    As always, thank you.

BerniesTeachers 9. Menu, the hamburger is needed when portrait for iPad and smartphones. This could be done with custom CSS but I'm not sure how that's done.
      • 1
BerniesTeachers 8. Can we have an option to show views of a page or post. Maybe in the post options script?

    ScriptTech's Free Plugins and 4.9
    Hi Everyone,

Just a note that all of our plugins are working fine in 4.9. We currently have three free plugins seen at our Expert profile. Our demo is already running 4.9.

For any that have used them, please do provide a review of them at the SocialEngine market product review area as a thank you to us. We enjoy making free plugins and enjoy hearing feedback even more. :)

If we don't get some feedback, we'll assume that our products aren't something that people like and will stop providing freebies. We do have one more freebie ready but will await some feedback before spending time on more. Note that our intention is to provide small, free products.

Details about our products are found at our forum which is also used for public support.

Feel free to drop us a line.

    Thank you!

    Can't seem to delete/edit categories.
I can't seem to delete or edit categories in the Groups and Events modules.  In other modules I can edit and delete categories but not in these modules.  The error I get is:

Fatal error: Call to a member function delete() on null in xxx/public_html/application/modules/Event/controllers/AdminSettingsController.php on line 178

    Anybody having similar issues?

      • 1
      Donna Hi Matt,

This issue is fixed for our next release which shouldn't be too long before we release it. If you have active support, our support might be able to provide a patch if it's not an involved fix (meaning if it doesn't require a lot of files to edit). You could send a ticket to our support from your client account if you do have support. If not, we hope the release will be within the next few days. It depends on testing another fixed bug.

    Website Name After Page Description?
I can be wrong, but I remember that until version 4.8.13 website name was before the page title, but now seems that the opposite is happening.

In other words instead of sitename - page name description the website is displayed as page name description - sitename. Is this correct?

    Iframely Options
    Hello,

I am testing the version 4.9 and I confess that in despite of price to use the iframely api, I could understand the difference between the Social Engine Api and Host a Api. The Social Engine Hosted Api use Iframely or it use the old version from SE?
      • 1
Donna The SocialEngine Hosted version is the Iframely hosted by SE for licensed clients. :) We did this for clients that might not want to use the paid Iframely or on their own servers. Hope you enjoy it! :)

    SE PHP 4.9 - Eww
Sorry to be negative but SE PHP is not what I expected. I downloaded the trial and TMD Hosting was kind enough to install it; however, adding members can't be done through the admin panel, there is no means to set the theme up like SE Cloud stream, adding article URLs (Link) is easy in Cloud and doesn't appear to work in SE PHP.

It's as if all of the good things are in SE Cloud - but SE Cloud is limited too because it does not have a blog or forum. Meaning, there is no community in Cloud but I want the article/voting aspect.

This is ridiculous. I'm not impressed. I'm going round and round.

"adding members can't be done through the admin panel" I actually raised this in github with SE as a feature request
      https://github.com/SocialEngine/phpv4-issues/issues/707

Its a feature needed, and great to hear what new sephp users think.

I use sephp and its awesome, its by far the best, but your right there is some features missing

      Donna Hi [243281,BerniesTeachers],

      Cool avatar. :)

Sorry you are not pleased with the SEPHP 4.9 version. Please note that a script like SE is meant to be a building block for many, many types of websites. As such, it has many features but it won't be 100% exactly what everyone needs because it can be used for so many things and is quite versatile.

For example, adding links in SEPHP can be done in the feed and in various articles. It grabs links for the feed with Iframely and so far is working fine. I'm not sure if that's what you are speaking of though. If you mean grabbing RSS feeds, our SECloud does have that feature but you'll still want to go through each article you grab and change them some in order to avoid issues with Google for duplicated content. This is the issue with any RSS aggregator though, no matter where you go.

SECloud is meant to be a Reddit sort of clone. It's great for news aggregation and Twitter-esque sort of posting. Each SE product has it's own unique features to work with. Improvements will be coming for each product as well.

There are many plugins to do what you need for SEPHP since you have that. Perhaps see if there are some that you like.

I've an author site running on SEPHP. I need specific things for stories but for now am using Blogs and Groups creatively to meet my needs until I can make something or have something made so that I have a table of contents for stories. Still, I have so much else with this script as opposed to the script I came from and used to work for. I also could never afford to make a site from scratch and get all of the features I have with SE. It is a great building block as it's meant to be. :)

Will the GIF's feature be a headache ?
Hello everyone, i will like to have an opinion about the new profile image GIF support.
Imagine that you have on your website 100 active users day by day and all of them having animated image for profile picture.
For example if you will access member home page where you can have the widgets with new, popular, online users and also the Wall , i think it will be a big headache to look on that page with all those images moving in there.
Don't you think that will be nice to have an option in Admin CP to disable using GIF's for profile picture if we wish ?
I have made a test only with 4 users and few test posts from all and already my eyes ware tired to look on the page and is quite annoying.

Thank you and please give an advice, have a nice day to all !

      Donna Hi everyone!

I also prefer to disable animated due to epilepsy concerns for some of my members on my own site. I'll add a feature request for our team to look at this.

Stepan Would there be a possibility to have GIF images activate on hover? For example have a static image displayed and only animate it when a user hovers over it? I have seen it on some social website forgot which. Not sure if this will require a separate static jpeg or if you can stop gif from animating and only load the first frame.
      • 1
Gabry I think is good to have the GIF support on the website for example maybe you want to comment on a video, photo or music with an animated image or you want to send a private message containing an animated image or you have a plugin like gifts using animated image.... but will be very good to have an option to disable the GIF for profile pictures .. thank you very much to all for reply's.

Is SE Cloud Stream theme available for SE PHP 4.9?
The default theme for SE PHP 4.9 is nice but I'd like to know if the SE Cloud stream theme is available for PHP 4.9.

Eugene Are you looking for the theme (design) or functionality to make posts like in SE Cloud?
