    SE App Store
Cool idea that I think could work. SE would have a developer site that developers apply to. Once they are approved, they receive access to the SE Cloud API. Developers then create WIDGETS, THEMES, and PLUGINS. SE can set a price point for each category. The developer would then upload the new item to the SE App Store. This would be much like how the 2 current themes are on SE Cloud. The users would then login to their admin section, go to the app section a add items to their site. Our pay info is already on file and can pay SE directly. SE Can then pay the developers. By doing this SE developers can make sure pirate software is limited and an easy way to make sure people are updated to the newest version of their apps.

    Thoughts?

Tony Perez Is it possible to make our SE Cloud site an APP on iOS, Android & Windows 8? [52,Jung Kim] [37,Alex Benzer] [250,Drew Frey] .

SocialEngineMarket Just mentioned this in another thread, I agree with this idea and I think that shopify is a good example of how it may work. They're SaaS as well, and they have AppStore where developers may submit their own plugins and charge some monthly fee for their add-on. In my opinion this solution will work perfectly for SE Cloud as well.

What is the safest way to upgrade?
I thought of one way, perhaps there are better ways to upgrade.

What I do is I have fresh install in a different folder and connect the old DB to it. There I am checking for errors before overwriting the original install.

Any suggestions for a simpler way to upgrade?

    SE Cloud & PHP
    Hey all,

I have 2 suggestions. I would like to see a separate SE Cloud site for community members to test new functions. The other item would be to separate the blog feed in SE Cloud and SE PHP. When I log into either admin section, I would like to see updates for that specific version of SE.

    Thoughts?

Mobile Version Re Think Required - make it more like an App!
On my IOS device the mobile version displays the sites media content very well, but after that all the sites options and features fail very badly.

All the links (choose image for upload / members personal profile data) are way too small for the user to see correctly.

When adding a post the pop up window is not correctly displaying on the device and as a user you end up having to zoom out to complete all the post details (category selection etc) - its as though the main site goes super small then adding a post it goes super huge.

Maybe there should be more of an App feel to the mobile version instead of just showing a responsive version of the site.

Give members a lading/homepage with IOS type buttons that offer the sites options - e.g. (Media Stream) (Make Post) etc

    simple wordpress theme example :

Robin They've just inaugurated but I don't think they will change a lot.
It will better for everybody to be able to do it by CSS when they clarify how we can manage it.
      That's in the roadmap [250,Drew Frey] ?

    Hover Wow!!
It would be nice to see hover cards for member links, I think that it would make for better user interaction.

Hover over member link it should open a follow or message button.

I've seen a few people request this feature. Glad to know that it's a hot request.

    Community Feedback: rel=author
Chances are you caught the article with the picture attached to it, even if it wasn't the first listing.

The rel=author tag not only includes the picture from the authors Google+ profile but also includes all kinds of great SEO features.

Should we integrate this into each user profile?

    Thanks!

Drew Frey Just in case you haven't heard, Cloud is now mobile friendly! http://www.socialengine.com/blog/2012/10/19/socialengine-now-supports-mobile/
      • 1
Rick Von Ruden I agree with Jeff. For me the mobile web is extremely important and I see you are working mobile themes for both themes. I need lists to work extremely well in the mobile theme preferably the stream theme.

Jeff Yes, but way later....after the mobile web, API, data import (with forums and private messages), etc. :)

so social engine cloud is not to be sold advertised on or made money with ...rig...
web advertising is big factor in social networking , se cloud is running from social engine itself so any ideas of selling your community , selling ads or making money could be out of the question. or perhaps i should rephrase my question easy on not easy off. you leave you lose everthing .
      • 2
Alex Benzer Actually, none of that is accurate.

You're welcome to sell access to your SE Cloud client account to a buyer if you want. We don't have a policy against it.

You can also easily place ads anywhere on your site right from the Page Templates area in your control panel.

Jeff I fully intend to generate revenue with my cloud site just like I have done with my PHP sites. I think it's a great platform to focus on content and ad sales vs. writing all the code to do run the community...trust me....been there, done that. ;) Once the API is available we should (hopefully) have access to all of *our* data. Looking forward to seeing what we can do with the API! Thanks for your team's hard work [37,Alex Benzer]
