    I'm thinking about reactivating my community with SocialEngine,

    The problem of performance and speed SE4 was solved?

      seTweaks SocialEngine 4.5 has performance improvements but if you're not using the right server for your site you will have performance issues. your server should meet the requirements given by SocialEngine : http://support.socialengine.com/questions/152/SocialEngine-Requirements
      In addition to the standard requirements checkout our optimized socialengine server offers in our website.

      Eugene This problem in the most cases is a problem of 20+ plugins installed.
      Some clients have video processing and chat and still use minimal VPS or shared hosting.

      In case you consider going with "recommended hosting" check this old post

      There are quite few hosting options out there. If you have a limited budget, consider unmanaged VPS from linode.com and digitalocean.com
      But you will need to learn some administration basics, our team can help with initial setup if required.
      Otherwise use fully managed VPS or dedicate server, but make sure company knows SE requirements.

      HIFI SE thanks seTweaks for clearing the airways...
      I asked SE a while ago (in February) for best performace requirements. Here is the reply...

      Thank you for your message. While many clients who run SocialEngine have been able to there sites to 3M+users, doing so requires customization of the server environment and sometimes SocialEngine to make this possible. However, we do not provide customization services and if you need further assistance I would recommend checking out one of the 3rd party developers here: http://www.socialengine.com/customize/se4/developers .

      As far as hardware suggestions, I would suggest that you get a server with as many CPU cores as your budget can afford. Between 8 and 16 cores is highly recommended to significantly improve your concurrency rate, because PHP applications tend to be CPU bound rather than memory or I/O bound. For starters, 2-4G of memory will be sufficient, though I'd highly recommend aiming for 4G (http://support.socialengine.com/questions/200/SocialEngine-Performance-and-Speed-Enhancement-Tips) Unfortunately I can't say how much bandwidth or disk space you would need. This would need to be determined based on the results of your tests. If you need to use a multiple server setup, using the Amazon S3 storage service (http://support.socialengine.com/questions/188/How-to-use-the-CDN-Storage-Feature) with SocialEngine will be necessary so that all uploaded files can be stored in central repository, accessible by all application servers.

      Hope this helpes

      BumpShaman I tried it on my Samsung Note II phone using the Chrome mobile browser. The website loads to "duogbarna.info/?mobile=1" and nevers loads (it just reloads a blank white page over and over and over until I stop it -- at which time there is still just a blank white page).

      Hope this helps!

    Anyone know how to build a ipa file?
    So here is the deal, I have used xcode to create an app for the website, but since I dont have an dev account, I cant compile the ipa to have it run on testflight.com

    I am not willing to pay the 99$ atm, since it is very early in the dev on this. I just want to test it.

    is there a way around this? use another software to compile it?

    Turn your site into a flexible web app for iOS, possible for android to.
    I have worked hard on collecting and making the structure for a web app for the site I am working on these days. I finally have finished 98% of the code. Only part missing is the part for stretching it for iphone 5..

    Add this in your header template:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

    Image in user/mini menu
    I dont know if this has been posted before, but if you want to have profile image in the mini-menu, this can be done really easy.. This is for the stream theme and board theme

    Add this line in the custom css:
    #header #menu_user .profile-link-photo {
    display: inline;
    width: 26px;
    height: 26px;

      BumpShaman Thanks [6223,Arnfinn Ingebrigtsen]! I changed the width and height to 17px each to match the other menu buttons on my header bar and it works perfectly.

      Jung Kim I like how you make your header 'sticky' when you scroll down. :)

    Just find a way to Capitalize the Categories
    Place this in your CSS custom:
    #header #menu .dropdown-menu li > a {
    text-transform: capitalize;

      Keif Gigliotti Hey Robin,
      New around here, well signed on early but real life held me up until now. I was wondering what you thought of this one, if you do not mind me asking.
